History

In the year 1965, State Government of Maharashtra established fifth group of SRPF at Daund. About 1300 acres of land which was in possession of military, was handed over to SRPF Group V. But due to increasing law and order problems, State Government of Maharashtra decided to open more state reserve police force groups. Thus vide State Governments resolution number SRP/1965/C-6233-V Daund, Sachivalaya, Bombay dated 9th November, 1965 the SRPF Group Seven came into existence. 292 acres of land from SRPF Group Five was handed over to newly formed group. Actual functioning of SRPF group VII started from 08th February, 1966. Shri N. V. Surve was appointed as first commandant of Group VII.
